Terbutaline is a bronchodilator used to treat asthma. Terbutaline works by relaxing muscles in the airways to improve breathing.
Typical use Of Terbutaline Sulphate :
Asthma, Bronchitis, Emphysema, Obstructive Airway Disease, Oedema, Oliguria Due To Renal Failure, Premature Labour, Uncomplicated Premature Labor.
Mechanism of action of Terbutaline Sulphate :
Terbutaline Stimulates Beta-adrenergic Receptors Of Intracellular Adenyl Cyclase, The Enzyme That Catalyzes The Conversion Of Adenosine Triphosphate (ATP) To Cyclic- 3',5'- Adenosine Monophosphate (c-AMP). Increased C-AMP Levels Are Associated With Relaxation Of Bronchial Smooth Muscle And Inhibition Of Release Of Mediators Of Immediate Hypersensitivity From Cells, Especially From Mast Cells.
Drug Interaction of Terbutaline Sulphate :
Terbutaline Is Known To Interact With Other Drugs Like Bendrofluazide, Frusemide Or Furosemide, Metipranolol, Pancuronium (Br), Theophylline. Always Consult Your Physician For The Change Of Dose Regimen Or An Alternative Drug Of Choice That May Strictly Be Required.
Side effects of Terbutaline Sulphate :
Ventricular Tachycardia, Headache, Anxiety, Palpitation, Tremors, Muscle Cramps.
