Usage
Aspirin is used to treat various types of conditions including headaches, tooth aches, muscle aches and common cold. It is useful in reducing pain and swelling in conditions such as arthritis. Aspirin is also prescribed by physicians to reduce the risk of certain conditions such as strokes, heart attacks and blood clots.
Dosage
Aspirin is usually taken by mouth with a glass of water. If you experience stomach upsets, then you must take this medication with food or milk. Do not chew, crush or bite the tablet before swallowing since this can increase the risk of upset stomach. Once you consume the drug, do not lie for at least 10 minutes. Keep yourself active and alert.
Your dose will mainly depend on your personal health status and treatment response. Aspirin must not be taken for longer than directed since it can result in adverse health effects. Using this medication during pregnancy can influence uncontrollable bleeding during labor. Thus, it is best to avoid getting pregnant during this time. In case of an unexpected pregnancy during the treatment period, it is best to contact your healthcare provider immediately. You must not use this drug when breastfeeding your baby too.
Do not increase your dosage without consulting your physician. This will not accelerate the effectiveness of the medication and heal your pain faster. Instead, it can increase the risk of side effects and can make the condition worse. Thus, stick to your prescription without fail.
